Family Messaging

Funeral home text messaging software, tied to the case

Families text. Your team should be able to answer from one number, see the whole thread, and have every message land on the right case. FuneralHQ puts two-way texting on the case record instead of in a separate app.

Who it is for

  • Firms paying for a separate business phone app just to share texts
  • Directors texting families from personal cell phones
  • Teams that cover for each other and need the full thread
  • Owners who want a record of what was promised and when

What it replaces

  • A separate business texting app that does not know your cases
  • Personal phones carrying family conversations
  • Screenshots pasted into email so someone else can catch up
  • Guessing whether a family was ever told the certificate was ready

How family messaging works

One number for the firm, one thread per family, and every message stored on the case where the rest of the file already lives.

  1. 01

    Set up your number

Use a new local number from FuneralHQ or keep the number families already have and text-enable it. Voice calls to that number keep working the way they do today.

  2. 02

    Register for A2P 10DLC

We handle the carrier registration for your business so your messages are delivered rather than filtered. Registration is required for business texting in the United States and is included in setup.

  3. 03

    Text from the case

Open a case, choose the family contact, and send. The thread is attached to that case and every staff member with access can read it and reply.

  4. 04

    Send routine updates from templates

Death certificate ready, service time reminder, balance due, and any other message your firm sends often. Staff pick a template, review the text, and send it themselves.

  5. 05

    See what happened

Delivery status, who on your team sent each message, and the time it went out are recorded on the case, along with any opt-out the family sends.

What comes with it

Built for the way a small team actually covers a case, and for the consent rules that govern business texting.

Shared team inbox

One business number that everyone can see and answer from. You cannot put a single business line on three personal phones, and you should not have to.

Example A director is at a graveside, another staff member answers the family and the thread stays in one place.

Keep your existing number

Port or text-enable the number already printed on your signs and obituaries, so families reach you where they always have.

Automatic case attachment

Incoming texts match to the family contact and land on the right case. Unmatched numbers go to a review queue for staff to assign.

Templates for common updates

Save the messages your firm sends over and over, with the family and decedent details filled in for review before sending.

Example Certificate ready for pickup, service reminder the day before, balance due with a payment link.

Consent, quiet hours, and opt-out

Consent is captured and stored on the record, STOP and HELP are honored automatically, and quiet hours hold non-urgent messages until morning in the family time zone.

Spanish

Send in Spanish from the same templates, with the translated text shown to your staff before it goes out.

Common questions

Can we keep the number families already call?

Yes. In most cases we text-enable your existing business line or port it, so the number on your signs and obituaries is the number families text. Voice service is unaffected.

Can every staff member see the messages?

Yes. Threads live on the case, so anyone with access to that case can read the history and reply. Permissions still control who can see which cases and locations.

What is A2P 10DLC and do we have to do it?

It is the carrier registration required for businesses that text from a standard ten digit number in the United States. Unregistered traffic gets filtered or blocked. We complete the registration for your firm during onboarding.

How is consent handled?

Consent is recorded on the family contact, every message includes a way to stop, and STOP and HELP replies are honored automatically. Once a contact opts out, further texts to that number are blocked until they opt back in.

Are any messages sent automatically?

Only ones you turn on, such as a service reminder, and each has an off switch. Everything else is composed or approved by a person before it goes out.

Can families reply with photos?

Yes. Photos and documents families send arrive in the thread and are stored on the case with the rest of the file.
